The purpose of this study was to design software that would allow beginning music students to practice and improve their rhythmic dictation skills. The Computer Assisted Instruction (CAI) software titled Music Tools: Beginning Rhythmic Dictation was developed using Macromedia Director 8.5 and is intended to help students improve their elementary rhythmic dictation skills. The test sample includes a heterogeneous group of twenty-two students who evaluated the software. Data was collected from the students via a pre-test and a post-test. The statistical analysis of the pre-test and post-test determined that the use of Music Tools is a valuable and effective method of improving students' rhythmic dictation skills |
