520 The Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and
Fundamental Freedoms has been exceedingly influential in
developing policies and legislative acts in the field of
human rights. The significant influence arose as a result
of the success of the human rights system within its
membership countries and particularly as a result of its
       enforcement mechanism
520 The spread of democracy in the 1990s was followed by a
rapid expansion of the ECHR and the countries of central
and Eastern Europe embracing the system of protection of
human rights embodied in the ECHR were suddenly part of
the most fully and systematically developed system for
       protection of human rights
520 The purpose of this thesis is via quantitative and a
qualitative analysis of the Case law of the European Court
of Human Rights from the Republic of Macedonia to show
that through the ECtHR's judgments the ECHR system was not
just in position to identify breaches of the ECHR but
through the individual and general measures to assist in
improving the domestic system of protection of the human
520 The right of individual petition provided by the ECHR, the
direct access of individuals to the European Court of
Human Rights as well as the political role of the
Committee of Ministers in supervising the execution of the
ECtHR's judgments represent the pillars of the most
developed corrective body in the world which detects
problems in the domestic system for protection of human
       rights and ensures their remediation
