The research problem for this qualitative study was "How do former teacher trainers experience the implementation of brain compatible teaching in their classroom?" The purpose of the study was to develop a deeper understanding of the experiences of three former teacher trainers as they attempted to orchestrate brain compatible teaching for learning in their classrooms by better understanding what contributed to or impeded their implementation. The three person case study used interviews as the primary source of data with interactive reflective journals, observations and documents review as secondary sources. Conceptual themes were identified from the data using the grounded theory approach and the results were also correlated to change theory and the developmental stages of implementing innovations, staff development implementation theory, and brain based, brain compatible learning theory. The data from the study indicated 5 contributing factors: (1) use of brain compatible principles as a filter for decision making and self assessment of their effectiveness as orchestrators of student learning; (2) acceptance of professional responsibility for student learning and for teaching in a way that resulted in student learning; (3) support of and collaboration with administrators and peers; (4) use of scheduled time to plan, reflect, learn and improve; and, (5) use of ample brain compatible strategies and instructional programs to comprehensively address the brain based learning principles and to reduce at-risk learning environments. Conditions that acted as barriers included 3: (1)t he lack of time for learning and continuous improvement; (2) peers as professionally complacent and as reluctant learners, and (3) instructional cookie cutter expectations
