This paper examines three forms of intelligence: social intelligence, emotional intelligence and cultural intelligence. The aim is to establish the relationship that exists between emotional intelligence and cultural intelligence, and clearly show how they are distinct, but related, constructs, as well as subsets of social intelligence. Additionally, the impact of cultural exposure on emotional intelligence and cultural intelligence is examined, as well as the effect of each type of intelligence on leadership. Results indicated that cultural intelligence and emotional intelligence are related constructs. Significant variance in each of these two constructs is explained by social intelligence, which was also found to have a significant mediating effect between social desirability and emotional intelligence, as well as emotional intelligence and leadership skills. Cultural exposure was found to significantly impact cultural intelligence and emotional intelligence. Significant variance in leadership skills was explained by social intelligence and cultural intelligence, but not emotional intelligence. A discussion of limitations of this study and future research are also provided
