Barbara Takenaga explains her series of "night paintings" as based on a childhood dream in which a small shape is waiting to be absorbed by a large cluster. Many of her works feature enlarging spheres with inward/outward radial symmetry. There are bright colors and a strong feeling of energetic movement. Other works and installations are two-dimensional and have narrative and objects telling a story of her Japanese family and heritage
