Fingerprint recognition is one of the first techniques used for automatically identifying people and today it is still one of the most popular and effective biometric techniques. With this increase in fingerprint biometric, issues related to accuracy, security and processing time are major challenges facing the fingerprint recognition systems. To make fingerprint recognition systems secure and accurate, several approaches have been investigated in the literature |
Previous work has shown that polarization enhancement of fingerprint patterns increase accuracy and security of fingerprint systems. Furthermore it was shown previously that unpolarized fingerprint images require digital enhancements to yield acceptable accuracy levels |
This Thesis focused on fusing unpolarized and polarized-encoded fingerprint patterns to increase the accuracy and security of fingerprint systems. I proposed a new high boost fusion technique to fuse unpolarized and polarized encoded fingerprint patterns with different proportion. It is shown that this approach yields more accurate and secure results compared to polarized and unpolarized fingerprint identification and verification processes |
